Common Questions About North Christian School

Common Questions About NCS1. Generally speaking, how does North Christian School?s Academics Compare to Other Schools?

Since our inception, our students have scored significantly higher than the national, state and county averages on the Standardized Achievement Test-10 (SAT 10). North Christian School (NCS) teachers all have a minimum of a four-year degree in Elementary Education and have their West Virginia and/or Ohio State Teaching Certificates. Our teaching staff has also met the certification requirements of the Association of Christian Schools International and are Christians who believe they serve in the ministry of teaching students.

2. We Aren?t Baptist and Do Not Attend North Parkersburg Baptist Church. Can Our Children Attend North Christian School?

North Christian School is non-denominational and is comprised of students from over 35 churches in the Mid-Ohio Valley. Our teachers, staff and school board are also comprised of members from various churches in our valley. Our curriculum is Christ-centered and non-denominational as well.

NCS was established for all Christian parents who wish their children to attend a Christ-centered school with strong academics.

3. I Don?t Want My Child to Miss All the Extracurricular Opportunities By Being in a Christian School. Aren?t You Limited in What You Offer?

The staff and parents of NCS work together to provide our students the opportunity to participate in nearly every event offered elsewhere. For example, NCS participates in the County Science Fair, Social Studies Fair, Wood County Basketball League, Wood County Track Meets, TREK, SAIL, Math Field Day?to name a few.

For Christian parents, Christian schools actually provide more in that your child will have Bible class daily and chapel services weekly, in addition to all the other subjects you?d expect in most elementary schools. Our parents believe having a ?Christian? school far outweighs any extracurricular activity. NCS provides the best of both worlds?extracurricular activities and strong academics in a Christian school.

4. I Hear NCS Is Full. Should I Even Attempt to Enroll My Child?

We are blessed with classes that are typically at, or near capacity each year. Enrollment applications for the 1st -6th grades will be processed beginning the first week of February. Enrollment for grades PreK and K begins each October for the following year. We recommend that all interested families complete their application packet early so that they will be processed as openings arise.

5. I?ve Heard So Many Good Things About NCS. What Makes NCS Such a Wonderful School?

There?s an intangible about NCS that makes it such a special place for students and parents. Current families and first-time visitors often comment about an ?atmosphere of joy,? ?a sense of peace,? and ?sensing God?s Holy Spirit? at NCS. NCS is simply a place filled with people who are dedicated to the academic and spiritual development of children. We feel blessed to provide such a school to our parents and community.
