Academic Excellence

Academic ExcellenceMany of us have perceptions that Christian schools are academically inferior. Some Christian schools have also formed reputations of being "reform schools" for behaviorally-challenged students. North Christian School has strict enrollment guidelines and is committed to excellence in education. NCS exists to provide a high quality, Christ-centered, academic education to the children of believing parents in the Mid-Ohio Valley. The instructional programs at NCS are traditional, teacher-directed, core-academic that use materials selected to reach goals and objectives outlined by the teacher and the NCS Board of Education. The program also includes instruction in art, music, technology, library and physical education.

Here are some examples of the NCS commitment to academic excellence:

  • Stanford Achievement Test Scores (SAT 10) that are annually above the local, state and national averages.
  • Over 30 years of comparative data has found that Christian school students score about the national average at every grade level. For example, Christian school 6th graders have scored over 2.5 years ahead of the national norm on standardized achievement tests as compared to the national norm.
  • Each teacher at NCS has a minimum of a four year bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Like public school teachers, they also have their State Teaching Certificates as well as being certified by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).
  • Tutoring Services available.
  • Art, Music, Library, Technology, and Health taught weekly.
  • Classes are limited to approximately 20 students per grade.
